You see yesterday we had RAIN

all day and it was heaven!

Today we had left over FOG!

And this guy thinks it's safe

to ride in the fog on streets

that don't have a bicycle lane

all the way through?

NUTS!!!!

Homemade Laundry Detergent!!!

20 Mule Team Borax ~ $2.67 (WalMart)

Pink Zote Soap ~ $.97 (WalMart)

Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda ~ $3.99 (Ace Hardware)

Whopping Total = $7.63

You will need a few more bars of soap since most

recipes only call for a cup each of the 

borax and washing soda.  Therefore making the 

boxes go a looong way!

20 Mule Team Borax, Washing Soda & Zote Soap

The hardest ingredient to find is the Arm & Hammer Washing Soda.

You can also substitute Zote with Fels Naptha, Ivory Soap (plain) 

or homemade soap if you choose. 

Zote divided into thirds

This soap is soft and easy to cut or grate

Melting the zote with water, then add borax & washing soda

Add water to a large bucket along with melted Zote

This was fun and easy to make.  

I did both types, dry and liquid.  

You can get the recipes off the internet.  

There's no specific way to make

either one as each area of the country 

differs because of water hardness.

Some even call for baking soda but I didn't add any at this time.

We stopped at Lee Lee's Asian Grocery Store

to pick up our #25 lbs bag of rice and I must

say, when we walked in the front door

I about died!  The smell of

FISH

about knocked me out!

Steve and Emily said my lips turned white 

and they were worried about me!

But the trooper I am roughed it out

and purchased my rice for $20 then

high tailed it outathere!

Measuring Cup & Paddle

Which by the way is not a "true" cup

it's actually 5.8 oz (green) and 6.1 oz. (clear)

After you rinse the rice (in the same bowl) then

fill water to the appropriate water line.

Select the correct setting and

push the cook button.

Then it's music to my ears!

Literally!

It plays "twinkle twinkle little star"

BINGO!

You have YUMMY Rice!

My Airman and Veterans Day!

Hard to believe my son went 

from silly high school

teenager to a young man 

serving our Country.

Thank You to ALL our Military

Zenyatta ~ What a ride!

As I sat watching from front row seats 

the anticipation was killing me!  

Finally they're off!

Typical, Zenyatta fell to the back of the pack 

which seems to be a comfortable spot for her. 

That is until she makes her move and that she did.  

From last place she inched her way to the front 

of the pack but unfortunately she needed an extra stride.  

Blame won by a nose that took a photo finish to declare.  

With a crowd of over 72,000 cheering on these mega beasts 

at Churchill Downs another race goes down in history.

Zenyatta's 19 win streak has come to an end 

along with her racing career.  

She is now retired!
