We found out last winter while staying in the Gulf Shores area that Fannie Flagg had a place in Fairhope, Ala. Can't remember if it was just a "writers retreat" or if she lived there full time.
There was a quaint little bookstore downtown Fairhope that had many copies of her books of which some were autographed.

I recently read "Fried Green Tomatoes" and loved it! I had seen the movie when it came out but had never read the book. Both were wonderful IMHO ...

PS: Been to Fairhope (nice town)and that bookstore. That was before I read the book and I was looking for the original owner also an author but for the life of me, I can't remember his name. Apparently he is quite the celebrity in that neck of the woods.
