A Couple Cups of Coffee...

A professor stood before his philosophy class
And had some items in front of him.
When the class began, wordlessly,
He picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar
and proceeded to fill it with golf balls.
He then asked the students, if the jar was full.
They agreed that it was.
The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured
them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly.
The pebbles rolled into the open Areas between the golf balls.
He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.
The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar.
Of course, the sand filled up everything else.
He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a unanimous ‘yes.’
The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively
filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.
‘Now,’ said the professor, as the laughter subsided,
‘I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life.
The golf balls are the important things – family,
children, health, Friends, and Favorite passions –
Things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, Your life would still be full.
The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, house, and car.
The sand is everything else –The small stuff.
‘If you put the sand into the jar first,’ He continued,
‘there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls.
The same goes for life.
If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff,
You will never have room for the things that are important to you.
So…
Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.
Play With your children.
Take time to get medical checkups.
Take your partner out to dinner.
There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal.
‘Take care of the golf balls first –
The things that really matter.
Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.’
One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented.
The professor smiled.
‘I’m glad you asked’.
It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem,
there’s always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend.’

The Coffee Shop....Literally!

So we decided at the beginning of the week that Friday we'd get up early and ride our bikes to The Coffee Shop. It's a 4 mile trek one way which we thought would be no problem! It wouldn't have been had it not been for 100 degree temps and two flat tires! Lets just say the rest of the day we did NOTHING! The heat zapped our energy.

Oh and to clarify the two flats...it was on the doggy trailer, LOL! That was a hard hump home for poor Steve. As for Carl & E.B. they didn't notice a thing!

Unfortunately I forgot the camera. Ugh! Pictures next time. Promise!

Scooters...

Steve and I have been throwing around the idea of getting matching scooters. Fun huh!?! Well I've never rode before so... um ya I need to think about this a little longer. Anyway in the meantime we'll get one big enough to hold both of us two up and if I decide in the future to join him, we'll add mine at that time.

For fun we went to the scooter store to sit on a few and this is what we came up with....

This two tone green one is our favorite!
It's the Genuine Buddy International 150cc

The Blue and Orange are the
Genuine Buddy 125cc

This white one is a Lance Cali Classic 125cc

Choices, choices! They're all so cute it's hard to choose just one but since we'll eventually be in an RV we definitely need to control how many end up in the fleet, LOL!!! My only hesitation is that right now we have one car so if Steve does decided to get the scooter he's going to need to commit to riding in the heat of summer. Otherwise, it's in our best interest to get a second car instead. I'll keep you posted...

Bike Carrier for the Boys!

We picked up a bike stroller for the boys so we can finally take them along with us and hopefully get out a little more. Plan on taking it for a spin tonight as soon as the sun hits the horizon. Still pretty hot during the day even though we've had cooler temps the last few days. I get so tired of saying I want to do this or I want to do that but never seem to follow through with the plans. Really looking forward to riding again and engaging in life. Been sitting home way too much dreaming about when the day comes but it seems the days just keep passing me by.

I'll get a few more pics up this evening once we get back.

The boys were trying it out in the living room. LOL!!! Carl (the white one) is more daring so I'm sure he'll enjoy it the most but E.B. hopefully will be happy just tagging along.

Maiden Voyage! The boys had a wonderful time. E.B. (little black one) who is usually the most terrified just laid down, stretched out and relaxed. Carl had to sit up the whole time wondering where we were going. Heading out again in a few minutes. Will get better pics later instead of with my cell phone.

Rival 11" Electric Skillet

So I decided to get myself an electric skillet last night. Grew up with one but never felt the need to get one once I got married 23 yrs ago. With the hot summer months on us and tired of having to turn the a/c colder every time I use the stove/oven, I thought I would give the rival a try. Of course this is with the intent of taking it along with us in the RV. While surfing the net for info & reviews I came across this youtube video and thought I'd give the recipe a try.

Ingredients: 1 pkg dry onion soup mix, 1/2 can whole berry cranberry sauce, 8oz. french salad dressing. Mix together, add chicken and bake at 350.

Hope it tastes good!

Conclusion: Fantastic! Not only was the chicken great but the Rival did it's job. For $20 it has even heat, easy clean up and very light weight. Love it!
